Snorkel Shipwreck Tours for Non-divers

Above: Midwest Living magazine sent a reporter on a snorkel tour of the Bermuda with Captain Linda Laraway to write a 2005 travel article on Great Lakes shipwrecks.

If you are not certified to dive, we can take you snorkeling. Semi-guided snorkeling trips include all equipment needed. Dry suits are used during certain times of the year. You get a quick lesson on mask fit, water entry, and snorkeling.

Door County Fireboat Cruises

Superior Explorer The Superior Explorer was built by the Breaux Craft Company in 1973 and was re-powered in 1998 with twin 300 hp John Deere diesels. She is 35 feet long and 12 1/2 feet wide. Seaworthy and certified for 6 plus captain, the boat cruises at 25 knots and is stable at anchor, with a head and heated, enclosed cabin for a comfortable diving experience. (Ask about the 1989 Robert DeNiro movie...)

Captains Linda Laraway and Randy Livsey offer Door County shipwreck diving for beginning, intermediate and expert divers. They also offer photographic dives with outstanding opportunities for wreck and close-up photography.

The Shipwrecks

Shipwrecks in the waters surrounding Door County have been preserved by the clear, cool waters of northern Lake Michigan. Many of the wreck sites are in shallow enough water to permit exploration with only a snorkel. Underwater visibility is considered to be among the best in the Midwest. Thirty feet at depth of one hundred feet is not uncommon. There are mooring buoys and descent lines at all primary dive sites.

For much more information on wrecks in the area to dive, visit Wisconsin's Great Lakes Shipwrecks for stories, photos and videos.
